By the next day the youngster couldn’t see out of her left eye, prompting Amanda and dad Ryan, 29, to rush her to an optician.

There they were told Coral’s injury was extremely serious and they should go straight to University Hospital Ayr.

Hairdresser Amanda, from nearby Stevenston, North Ayrshire, said: “When Coral fell she seemed shaken and her eye looked slightly sore but she reassured me she wasn’t in any pain.

“Throughout the day I kept asking her if she could see okay and at first she said she could.

“Later her vision started to blur and in the morning, she couldn’t see at all.”

Coral was transferred to Glasgow‘s Royal Hospital for Children for emergency surgery to stitch together multiple lacerations on her eyeball following last month’s accident.

Mum-of-three Amanda, added: “They’re going to do the best they can to get her vision fully back, but she’ll likely need several operations in the future.

“It’s unlikely we’ll see the results for six to eight months because her wounds need to heal.

“I’m praying Coral will turn a corner soon and that this accident won’t hang over her for life.”
